If you want to ride indoors, you need to make sure you have the bike that best suits your needs.

It is not always possible to ride a bike outside. You may live in cold and dark weather for a third of the year, or your schedule is not suitable for cycling outside all the time, or you may be one of many people who have difficulty balancing outdoor bikes, riding indoors The car is easier. Whatever the reason, an indoor exercise bike is a great way to get deep exercise in a short period of time without going to the gym.

Although I like my road bike very much, if there is no exercise bike, I would not be the cyclist I am today. Whether I am training on Century cycling within a week or being too dark to go out in the morning when I like to ride a bike, my exercise bike can help me stay active. And because I can arrange myself according to that schedule, I can easily spin one or two hours a day and feel good about it. This also means that I have spent a lot of time testing different indoor exercise bikes to find out which bike is right for me, and I have done my best to share this research here to help you make a choice.

Every cyclist is different. The space you have to exercise, the type of ride you want to do, and especially the amount of money you have to spend are all important factors. This article aims to help you choose the options that are right for you and how each bike fits into your life. I have tried every one of these bikes, whether anecdotal or as part of a full review, or (in one case) using a similar model.

Looking for a list dedicated to Peloton style bicycles? Check out our best Peloton alternatives, which include parts that overlap with the choices here.

Of all the things you control when choosing the right exercise bike for you, the content on the screen in front of you may be the least people consider. Many exercise bikes lock you on a platform, so you can only use the videos they provide for training. This is not necessarily a bad thing. There are many wonderful spinning courses and endurance training courses on various bicycles, but some of the videos feel a bit old and not difficult after a period of time.

Bowflex Velocore bikes can bring you many benefits. Its modular design is amazing, you can carry any shoes and seats, even counterweights and tablets, and the design supports it. In fact, on more than one occasion, I even participated in a Zoom meeting on the saddle of this exercise bike, and the handlebars supported the design very well. Regardless of your skill level, the magnetoresistive system will provide you with a lot of challenges, and the special tilt system means you can perform core exercises while doing leg exercises. It’s a great all-round experience, but it’s great in all the actions you can perform on the screen.

Bowflex has its own coaching platform that can help you train yourself in many ways like most exercise bikes, but there is more here. Netflix, Disney Plus and HBO Max are several applications on board, so you can enjoy shows while riding long distances. You can even use Zwift to ride with friends virtually, but it's worth pointing out that your performance on this bike is not as accurate as you can get on a dedicated indoor trainer approved by Zwift. No matter what you use, your performance will still be tracked and used as a guide to improve yourself.

The only real disadvantage of this bike is its size. It is 60 inches long and 24 inches wide, making it one of the largest footprints in indoor bicycles. The 158-pound body means it is both beautiful and strong, but it also means that those with a smaller frame may find it challenging to move around with the two small wheels in the front.

If you have been looking to buy an exercise bike, then you must have heard of Peloton. It’s the bike in all ads, you see bikes owned by celebrities, even bikes that are most likely to appear as a joke somewhere. What you usually see in relation to this bike is that its price is quite high, but if you park there, you may miss an important detail-you get much more than you usually get elsewhere.

Other exercise bikes tend to feel a little shaky in certain places, or become a little loud if you don't sit on them properly, and Peloton's fit and finish eliminates all of this. It feels like it was built for you, it is very comfortable, every inch is very smooth and safe. The display doesn’t look like it’s added, it feels like it’s designed specifically for this bike. This is a high-quality design. To be honest, after you have used this exercise bike, it has set a higher standard for other exercise bikes.

People often compare the look and feel of Peloton bicycles with Apple products, but they also have the biggest disadvantage of Apple products because they only have one way of using them, and this is how Peloton says you should use them. Peloton bicycles require bicycle shoes with cleats to lock the special pedals, if you don't have them yet, this will increase your total cost. Although it is undeniable that cycling cleats can improve your performance, for beginners, starting with special shoes can be frustrating.

Peloton's courses cover a variety of options, but what makes the courses unique is the semi-live feel. Even if you are not attending live courses that are often run through the Peloton app, your performance will be displayed in real time with other people attending the course. This is a great way to encourage you to push yourself further. Unfortunately, once you have a bicycle for a while, you will find that the course structure may become repetitive, and many long-term users report that it is difficult to maintain motivation once they reach the performance platform due to a lack of diversity.

Peloton offers two different bikes, and Bike Plus is the newest and most feature-rich bike, and it is also one of the most expensive exercise bikes you can buy. The standard Peloton Bike has recently dropped in price, so it is more reasonable to consider putting it in your home.

After Myx was acquired by The Beachbody Company, people had a lot of speculation about the future of Myx bicycles. With the release of Myx II and Myx II Plus, we now have the answer. The new parent company does not replace the experience Myx fans already know and love, but instead adds its BODi exercise platform as a separate project, which you can choose to do as well.

Myx II is 54 inches long and 21 inches wide, and it takes up less space in the home than most other bikes with screens. That 21.5-inch screen looks great and offers many different exercises, but its real function is the way it can be rotated all the time. If you do, you can use the included fitness mat to do more than just sitting and cycling. The included weights, resistance bands and kettlebells allow you to exercise your entire body, and a large number of lessons are included to do this. This is similar to what you will find in Peloton Bike Plus, but much cheaper.

Myx II Plus includes Apple Watch support to help you easily combine your exercise with the Apple Health platform, but the included Polar heart rate monitor also works well. With reversible pedals, you can use shoes with cleats or shoes without cleats. Combined with the many ways you can adjust the seat position, handlebar height and distance, it is not difficult to say that this is one of the most adjustable bikes you can buy.

As with many other exercise bikes, you can access monthly subscription services related to courses on Myx II Plus. Unlike many other indoor bicycles, there are multiple subscription methods depending on the platform you want to use. If you like the OpenFit system in the original Myx bike, you can pay for it. If you want to access the real-time courses and exercises provided by the BODi platform that you see at The Beachbody Company, you need to pay separately. If you choose to pay for both at the same time, this bike will become expensive over time.

Although Bowflex Velocore is cool, it is undeniable that it takes up a lot of space and is not cheap. If there is a way to maintain many of the core advantages of the Bowflex experience in fewer ways, then C7 is it. There is no side-to-side tilt for core workouts, the display is much smaller, and the speakers are not that good. But it is much cheaper than most other exercise bikes. (I have tested similar C6.)

This small screen also offers all the same powerful features as Velocore, which means that Netflix and all other streaming services are there, offering standard exercise kits. This is a good compromise, especially if you only want to use a rugged reluctance bike on the rare days when you can't ride a bike outdoors. However, if you are looking for a practical and easy-to-use wallet bike, then this is the best choice.

Exercise bikes are great for doing solid exercises on something that usually feels a bit like a bicycle, but for those who spend an hour or more a day riding a road bike, this experience is usually not enough. When it’s important that your indoor riding experience is as real and challenging as the outdoor riding experience, and you don’t want to use a real bike indoors, there is really only one choice.

Wahoo KICKR is the closest thing to a real bicycle, with customizable transmissions and analog shifting. The aggressive seat position is designed to mimic a racing road bike, and the resistance you feel while riding matches the software you use. This means that when your virtual ride in Zwift or other apps starts uphill, the bike will automatically adjust your resistance to provide you with the most realistic feeling when you ride. This is the only exercise bike that can make you feel like you are actually riding. The virtual riding is displayed on the screen, which is incredible.

If you are a serious cyclist and want to improve your performance when it is cold and dark outside, and you are not willing to sacrifice the real bike feel to get it, then the Wahoo KICKR bike is your best choice. But, like everything in the cycling world designed for ultra-precision, you will definitely pay for this privilege. But if you take this path and add a realistic fan and a large enough screen, you may temporarily forget that you are actually riding inside.

Do you know what is better than indoor bicycles? The outdoor bike I already own. If you own a bicycle you like, like me, it is a shame to hang it on the wall when it is too cold to ride outside. When you can’t ride outdoors, instead of buying a separate exercise bike to ride, it’s better to use Direct Drive Trainer. If you plan to go this far, you really want to make sure it is smart enough to make smart adjustments with your favorite workout app.

Replace your rear wheel with a Saris H3, and you now have a balanced surface with built-in cadence, speed, and power sensors to provide you with the data you need to measure performance. These sensors communicate with everything from Zwift, BKOOL, and TrainerRoad to the accompanying one-month visit to Rouvy to provide an interactive experience. The resistance will vary based on what you see in the app of your choice, and since you are using a real bike, your power and shifting will reflect the same real-world feeling.

There are many indoor trainers you can use, but if you are looking for a combination of smart feedback, performance monitoring, and price, then this is the way to go.

Schwinn has long been a respected name in the cycling world, and its indoor bikes are no exception. IC4 is an excellent compact indoor bicycle with a magnetoresistive system and a small LCD display that can show you basic performance statistics. It is very customizable and easy to move because it has friendly wheels and weighs only 106 pounds. One of the great uses of this bike is to plug in other apps, you can use the tablet dock or the TV installed in the gym.

The basic display on the Schwinn IC4 is connected to your mobile phone or tablet via Bluetooth, and bike apps are installed, and the performance recorded on the bike can be easily converted into these apps. This means you can use the Peloton app or Zwift and easily determine how to use any screen of your choice.

It is worth mentioning that there are some precision differences between the default configuration of this bike and some applications. For example, Zwift will show that your driving speed is much faster than the actual driving speed. If you are racing against friends or participating in daily challenges, this may affect the results. You can perform calibration to correct this problem, but if you are concerned about the accuracy of some third-party riding apps, you need to calibrate it yourself.
