Brandon Tanev is out for the rest of the season for the Seattle Kraken with an ACL injury.

The forward left in the third period of a 5-3 home loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 18, Seattle's last game before having four postponed because of COVID-19 concerns. The Kraken said additional information on his surgery and recovery will be released when available.

Tanev's nine goals were third on the Kraken, and his 15 points were sixth. He led them with three game-winning goals.

Tanev, who was selected by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins, has scored 107 points (51 goals, 56 assists) in 325 regular-season NHL games for the Winnipeg Jets, Penguins and Kraken, and 10 points (six goals, four assists) in 32 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Seattle (10-17-3) is scheduled to host the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday (10 p.m. ET; TVAS, ROOT-NW, NBCSP, ESPN+, NHL LIVE) in its first game since the postponements.
