Daktronics once again collaborated with the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) to design, manufacture and install new LED video displays at Foster Stadium in Lexington. The monitor was installed and running before their October 30th game.

“The new LED display was immediately welcomed by our fans and injected vitality into our game day experience at Foster Stadium,” said Haley Shotwell, Deputy AD Assistant, VMI External Relations. "It changes our ability to provide high-quality video content and graphics in a universal and efficient way."

The new end zone display has a pixel pitch of 10 mm, which can bring clear, clear images to fans throughout the stadium. It is 24 feet high and 48 feet wide. It is controlled by Daktronics Display Control System. This is an industry-leading system that provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware to form a user-friendly production solution plan.

The display is capable of variable content partitioning, enabling it to display a large image or multiple areas. These areas can display any combination of real-time video, instant playback, latest statistics, graphics and animation, and sponsorship news.

“Watching the Keydets on the grill at Foster Stadium on Saturday is a day full of traditions, and you will look forward to it on the nation’s oldest state military school game day,” said Daktronics sales representative Frankuras. "We are once again honored to cooperate with the Virginia Military Academy on another special project. Our state-of-the-art technology will enhance the game experience for athletes and spectators in this historic venue."

The addition of video culminated in the flag calendar year of 2021. Keydets won the Southern League football championship in the spring, and Foster Stadium/Alumni Memorial Field celebrated its 100th anniversary as the home stadium of VMI football.

In addition to equipment installation, VMI will also receive content packages produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
